Chilean Patagonia – My First Hiking Experience

I still remember Torres del Paine with such as emotion, that tears drop in my face when I see picture of our adventure. I will try to describe this park but I will probably feel short with words. It brings a ton of feelings, it was our first real hiking experience, and still can’t understand how we picked this place to be our first. Patagonia is gorgeous but Torres del Paine, is out of this world. We thought we were in a fairy tail; the trees, the lakes, the mountains, the rocks, the glaciers, the waterfalls, the crisp air, how untouched it is… We did the W trek since we weren’t experience hikers and the O trek was a little dangerous at that time of the year. We just ran our first Marathon in the middle of January, so we were in shape to go hiking at early April. I’m so glad we were in shape because the W trek was not a joke.

I still remember Torres del Paine with such emotion that tears fill my eyes every time I see a picture of our adventure. It’s hard to describe this park; words will likely fall short, as it stirs up so many feelings within me. It was our first real hiking experience, and I still can’t fathom how we ended up choosing this place for our debut. Patagonia is stunning, but Torres del Paine… it’s in a league of its own. We truly felt like we had stepped into a fairy tale—the trees, the lakes, the mountains, the rocks, the glaciers, the waterfalls, and the crisp, fresh air—it’s all so untouched, so raw.

We did the W trek, since we weren’t experienced hikers, and the O trek felt a bit too dangerous at that time of year. We had just completed our first marathon in mid-January, so we were in good shape for hiking by early April. Looking back, I’m so thankful we were fit because the W trek was no joke.
